Portable speakers
Battery Bluetooth speakers for cafe or outdoor use. Includes instrument / mic models (Elie, BandBox) for practice and small jams.
Lifestyle & Music system
Home Bluetooth speakers and all-in-one systems (radio, CD, streaming) for bedrooms, living rooms, and apartments. Power on and play with few extras.
Bookshelf / stereo active
Stereo pairs with built-in amps: optical, HDMI ARC, RCA, USB-C, or Wi-Fi. More hi-fi than a single Bluetooth speaker, still a compact setup.
Wireless hi-fi
Premium hi-fi streaming: JBL 4305P, KEF LS series, and System Audio Silverback. Best for rooms with a serious setup.
What is an active speaker?
Active speakers have a built-in amp. You do not need a separate amp like passive speakers: connect Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, optical, HDMI ARC, or RCA depending on the model. A compact setup for desks, living rooms, apartments, or cafes.
How do they differ from studio monitors?
Active speakers on this page are optimized for music, movies, and living spaces. For accurate mixing (Genelec, Barefoot, JBL 3 Series), see studio monitors. JBL 4305P sits in the Wireless hi-fi group above (streaming + built-in DAC).

FAQ
Can active speakers work with a turntable?
Yes. Use a turntable with a built-in phono stage or an external phono preamp, then connect line out to RCA/aux on the active speaker (or use a streamer/DAC in between if the speaker is digital-only).
Can I upgrade an active speaker later?
You cannot swap the amp inside the speaker, but you can upgrade the source (streamer, DAC, turntable, CD) or add a sub if there is a sub out. When you move to a larger system, active speakers still suit bedrooms and desks.
Are active speakers powerful enough for large rooms?
It depends on the model. For rooms around 25-30 m² and up, choose Woburn / Heston / Bromley, larger bookshelf models, or wireless hi-fi, and consider a sub.
Do I need good speakers if I only use Spotify / YouTube Music?
Yes. Streaming sources are common, but a better speaker still makes a clear difference: tighter bass, clearer vocals, less fatigue. A solid lifestyle or bookshelf active pair is enough to upgrade everyday playlists.
